171 media organisations from 32 countries have submitted entries to the 29th edition of the Malofiej Awards for Infographics, organised by Society for News Design España and the School of Communications at the University of Navarra. Of these entries, 399 are in the print graphics categories, 709 in the digital infographics categories, and 36 in the students’ category.
The winners will be announced on Friday 15 June. In addition to the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, the jury will award the Miguel Urabayen Award for the best map, as well as selecting the best graphics from all print and digital categories on climate change and sustainability, minorities and human rights and gender equality.
Fourteen experts will evaluate the entries submitted to the competition. These are Alessandro Alvim, O Globo (Brazil); Jen Christiansen, Scientific American (USA); Paolo Ciuccarelli, Center for Design | Northeastern University (Italy / USA); John Grimwade, (UK / USA); Jan Schwochow (Germany); Mónica Serrano, National Geographic (USA); Aljaž Vindiš, freelance (Slovenia); Pablo Loscri, La Nación (Argentina); Simon Scarr, Reuters (Singapore); Karin Schwandt, Schwandt Information Design (The Netherlands); Monica Ulmanu, The Washington Post (USA); Sisi Wei, OpenNews (USA); Karen Yourish, The New York Times (USA), and Javier Zarracina, USA Today (USA).
